Many Users are unaware of the features of Windows Media, or what many of the error's mean, so we have outlined a help section to better assist those with Windows Media to get the most out of their listening experience at Killer Rock Radio. If you still need assistance, feel free to contact us by email.

The Answers
1. I Can't see the Title in Windows Media on Your Radio Broadcast! Why?!

Right-Click where it says "Now Playing" toward the Top. A Menu will appear. Go To the Menu Area called "Play". In the sub-menu that appears, there will be a section called Captions & Subtitles. Put your mouse over that, and another menu will appear. Then Click "On, If Available". Wait for a song change and then the title will be listed along with the run time of the song. While this option is not default on install, we are communicating with Microsoft to see if this can be enabled by default.

Users with Windows Media 9 or better will see a High-Graphic Interface showing what is currently playing and do not need to perform these steps.

During shows however, some DJ"s connections do not support title streaming. We are working to resolve this. Check the website for Show Times.

2. When Trying to access a Music Video i get "Server Unavailable or Busy". What does this Mean?

In short, it means we need more capacity on our servers. We apologize that you were unable to connect. We suggest you continue to try, and if it continues to error out, give it a few minutes to allow a recent traffic surge to die down. We are working constantly to add capacity to our network, and sometimes it takes weeks to add that capacity.

3. What Version of Windows Media do you suggest I Use?

We Suggest you use the latest version of Windows Media at any time to easily gain access to Killer Rock Radio and the Music Video's. We are constantly looking for improvements to the Windows Media platform, so that we may provide those improvements to you as fast as possible.

4. I get an Error Saying I Need To Download A Codec?

Our Audio Stream uses Windows Audio 9 Professional, and our Music Video's use Windows Media 9 VBR Video. Make sure you have the latest Version of Windows Media Installed to ensure your codec's are up to date.

5. How Can I Listen to the Stream in Linux?

There are several Linux projects out there, which will allow you to view and hear Windows Media Encoded Multimedia on Linux. While we cannot provide links to them at this time, we can say they are at www.sourceforge.net. Other good media players that can have Windows Media support is VideoLAN (VLC) at www.videolan.org.

You could also just listen to the station in XMMS. (Tell it to open the winamp link!)
